Eligibility for Primary Care
Reminder regarding Student/Learner Eligibility and Access to Services
- Current student/learner eligibility and access to SHWB Primary Care and Mental Health Services ends the last day of the month of graduation or appointment end date.
- New student/learner eligibility and access to SHWB Primary Care and Mental Health Services may begin as early as 2 weeks prior to their program start date, pending active insurance. For example, if your program’s first day of classes is August 26, students/learners may access services beginning August 15 because that is when the student health insurance plan coverage begins.
Learners enrolled in degree-seeking programs within at least 1 in-person class on the Baltimore and Washington, DC campuses and postdoctoral fellows and house staff are eligible for primary care services.
Learners taking online classes or enrolled in non-degree programs are not eligible for primary care through university clinics and should go to their insurance website to find local primary care providers who are in-network with their plans or seek treatment at a community-based healthcare resource.
Eligible learners on a medical leave of absence from the University are not eligible to receive in-person services from JHU Primary Care. Insurance and referral specialists are available to assist individuals on a medical leave of absence with how to search for outside providers for the duration of the period of leave.
All learners, regardless of status (e.g. taking in-person or remote only classes or on medical leave), are also eligible for medical services through TimelyCare.
