Annual Flu Vaccine Requirement

All eligible existing and incoming students at Johns Hopkins University who will be working or studying at a U.S.-based university campus or work site are required to have the annual flu vaccine during the flu season from August to May.

Note: If you are a new student joining during summer/early fall (before the start of the new flu season), you can get the vaccine at a JHU-hosted clinic for free. Flu compliance will not be enforced till after the November deadline.

All students (except School of Nursing) must provide proof of receiving the flu vaccine and upload it to the myHealth portal.

School of Nursing

School of Nursing Students should follow their school guidelines. SON Student who started enrollment in Spring of 2025 and on will enter compliance in Exxat. Previous students will upload to CastleBranch until graduation

School of Medicine

  • SOM students should submit all documentation to the myHealth portal.
  • SOM house staff and post-doctoral fellows should submit all documentation to VMS.jh.edu.
  • House staff and postdoctoral fellows can access Walgreens vouchers through VMS.jh.edu if they wish to get their flu shot at a Walgreens location off-campus.
  • SOM students and learners follow the JHM Flu Vaccine policy.

Consequences of non-compliance

Students who have not uploaded documentation of full vaccination or filed a request for an exception will have a hold placed on course registration.
