Dr. Sean Heffernan is a double board-certified psychiatrist with more than ten years of experience in the field. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. In addition to general psychiatry training, Dr. Heffernan has completed two fellowships for specialty training in psychosomatic medicine and treatment-resistant mood disorders. He maintains an Assistant Professor appointment in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. H has worked in campus wellness since 2021. He is the Chief of Psychiatric Services at St. John’s College in Annapolis. Dr. Heffernan joined the JHU Student Health and Well-Being staff in 2022.

In his current role, Dr. Heffernan is the administrative lead for the team of psychiatric service providers. He is particularly interested and involved in the development of care delivery systems, including promoting collaboration with colleagues in primary care services and the general hospital.
