Prior to joining JHU Student Mental Health Services in 2024, Jami worked in K-12 special education settings as well as in outpatient mental health.

Jami utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques and solutions-focused therapy. She works from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens and has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent (ND), first-generation, and LGBTQ+ students. As a neurodivergent clinician, Jami has a strong interest in outreach and educating others about what it means to be neurodivergent. Her goal is to help others feel comfortable and confident in their skills.

Jami has taught at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral level in sociology and social work programs.

Jami earned a Doctor of Social Work degree from Kutztown University, focusing on Leadership and Education. Her dissertation research focused on increasing social work competency regarding autism and how K-12 students are served. Jami obtained her Master of Social Work degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore, where she focused on Clinical Mental Health.

In her free time, Jami enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys reading (psychological thrillers are her favorite), decorating cakes, and watching tv with her cat.
