Sign Up for a Chat with a Counselor Visit

Are you ready to schedule a 15-20 minute chat with an MHS clinician? As a reminder, these sessions are informal, non-clinical opportunities to share about a specific problem and explore solutions or resources, and introduce you to what it’s like to speak with a member of our staff.

Anyone with an immediate, urgent situation or crisis concern should not utilize Chat with a Counselor but instead contact the Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team by calling 410-516-9355, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Students enrolled in degree programs that are exclusively online should call Mental Health Services at 410-516-3311, and select any clinic to connect to a front office staff member who can assist you.

Students enrolled in degree programs with at least one in-person class, residents and fellows can schedule through the MyHealth Portal. Follow the instructions below, or view the video for a step-by-step guide to scheduling your Chat visit.

  1. Log into the MyHealth Portal with your JHED credentials
  2. Select Check-In / Schedule / View My Appointment(s), then select Schedule an Appointment
  3. Select Mental Health Services
  4. Read the Emergency Screening, and select the appropriate option. If you are in crisis, please do not use the self-scheduling system – call the Behavioral Crisis Support Team at 410-516-9355 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
  5. Select Chat with a Counselor, and choose the type of chat you’d like to book.
  6. Select televisit or in-person visit, and select your preferred location if prompted. Please note that most Chat visits are available through televist only.

  8. Click Continue and then click Confirm to make your Chat appointment.
  9. You can view your scheduled appointments by selecting the Appointments option in the menu on the left menu.
