Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) provides an individualized, goal-oriented approach to addressing the challenges students and learners encounter in their daily lives. Through evidence-based strategies, OT supports the development of effective routines, time management skills, and coping mechanisms to promote overall well-being and academic success. The focus is on translating goals into action—helping students engage in the tasks and responsibilities that are important to them.
Occupational Therapists offer drop-in workshops, groups, and individual sessions. Please note, OT is a specialty service and there may be a waitlist for individual sessions. We strongly encourage participation in an OT skills workshop to learn actionable skills and support your goals! You can learn more about our workshops here and can sign up on the MyHealth portal.
How can Occupational Therapy help?
Students and learners can benefit from OT in a variety of ways. Some of the most common challenges that OT can address include:
- Organization, time and task management, productivity
- Attention, focus, and memory
- Sleep, habits, and daily routines
- Stress management and life transitions
- Independent living and life management skills (aka “Adulting”)
- Academic performance, including study strategies and assignment management
- Procrastination and performance-related anxiety
Getting Started
Eligible students and learners can schedule an Occupational Therapy consultation on the MyHealth portal. If you don’t see any appointments available, please contact us at 410-516-3311 to learn about our waitlist for individual services, or sign up for a drop-in workshop!
If you are already working with a therapist or psychiatric provider at Mental Health Services and you’re interested in OT, speak with your clinician about your goals and they can make a referral, as well as make recommendations about which group or workshop might be helpful to you.
