Carol Spencer

Health Education Specialist

Carol Spencer joined Johns Hopkins University in 2016 and has served as a Health Education Specialist with Health Promotion and Well-Being since January 2022. Her work is grounded in authenticity, compassionate listening, and deep respect for each learner’s identities, values, and lived experiences. Carol is passionate about meeting students where they are and empowering them to take a proactive, sustainable approach to well-being.

Through outreach, programming, and individual coaching, Carol helps JHU learners build skills to manage stress, improve sleep, strengthen confidence, and support overall well-being. She believes growth is a lifelong process and enjoys collaborating with students, trainees, and colleagues while continuing her own professional development.

Carol holds a M.Ed. in Counseling from Loyola University Maryland and a B.S. in Athletic Training from Towson University. She is a Certified Health & Well-Being Coach through Duke Integrative Medicine and holds instructor certifications in QPR Suicide Prevention, Mental Health First Aid, and MIEA Mindfulness.

Based primarily on the East Baltimore campus, Carol welcomes opportunities to connect with learners. When she’s not working with students, she enjoys traveling (especially beach trips), reading, walking, creative projects, and listening to music of all genres. She lives with her husband, three children, a cat named Beck, and a dog named Violet.
