Carol Spencer
Health Education Specialist
Carol Spencer has been with the Johns Hopkins University Assistance Programs since 2016 and joined Health Promotion and Well-Being as a Health Education Specialist in January 2022. Compassionate listening and honoring each individual’s identities, values, and experiences are fundamental to her work. Her outreach efforts focus on increasing awareness of resources available to JHU learners and promoting a proactive approach to well-being while also meeting learners where they are. Areas of special interest include emotional and mental health programming, imposter syndrome, sleep hygiene, and creating individualized well-being plans with learners. She believes we are all lifelong learners and enjoys developing and providing programming to JHU learners and trainees as well as engaging in collaboration, continuing education, and professional development herself.
Carol holds a Master’s of Education Degree in Counseling from Loyola University, MD. She also holds a BS in Athletic Training from Towson University. Prior to Johns Hopkins University, Carol was an Allied Health magnet educator, Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), and Guidance Counselor at Baltimore County Public Schools. Carol is a Mental Health First Aid Instructor and is obtaining certifications to teach Koru Mindfulness and QPR Training for Suicide Prevention in early Spring 2022. Carol lives with her husband, three children (one is away at college), cats Beck and Lucy, and dog Violet. When not working with JHU learners, Carol enjoys traveling- especially going to the beach, reading, walking, creative projects, and listening to music (all genres).
Carol mainly works on the East Baltimore campus. Schedule a meeting with Carol.
