Dear Johns Hopkins University students and learners:

For your health and the safety of our community, Johns Hopkins University students and learners are required to receive an annual flu vaccination. As flu season is upon us, a flu vaccination remains the best way to protect against influenza infection and to reduce disease severity should you become infected.

The university has scheduled several on-campus clinics where flu shots will be administered free of charge. A complete list of on-campus clinics can be found on the Student Health & Well-Being Primary Care website. You can also make an appointment for a free flu shot at one of our Student Health & Well-Being Primary Care Clinics. If you receive your flu vaccination through Student Health & Well-Being, your information will be added to Point and Click automatically, and you will not need to take any further action for compliance.

New for this year: A new online registration process makes it faster and easier to get your vaccine at the on-site, Walgreens-sponsored clinics. This replaces the previous paper process. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration will speed up your visit. Visit the Johns Hopkins flu campaign webpage to register for a clinic, based on your campus location. Please wear clothing that allows easy access to your upper arm when attending a flu clinic or visit.

Requests for religious or medical exceptions must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 31. More information is available on the Student Heath & Well-Being Primary Care website.

If you elect to receive your flu shot at a local pharmacy or with an outside provider, you will need to submit proof of vaccination via MyHealth Portal. The deadline to upload proof of vaccination is Friday, Nov. 21, 2025. Please note, we do not accept the self- administered FluMist as a form of vaccination.

School of Nursing (SON) students: SON students who enrolled in spring 2025 or later should enter their flu vaccine data into Exxat for compliance. SON students enrolled prior to spring 2025 should upload their flu vaccine data into CastleBranch for compliance.

Note that the flu vaccine requirement does not apply to JHU affiliates who are 100% remote (except School of Medicine students) – that is, those who never visit any Johns Hopkins facility or conduct business in any public setting on Johns Hopkins’ behalf.

Thank you for your contribution to the health and safety of our JHU community during this respiratory virus season.

Sincerely,

Kevin Shollenberger
Vice Provost for Student Health & Well-Being
