Well-being info for fall 2025 graduates

Congrats on your impending (or recent) graduation from Johns Hopkins! As you end your journey as a student and begin life as an alum, we want you to continue to care for your multi-dimensional well-being.

Here are some tips to guide your transition into post-Hopkins life as it relates to university resources.

Know your deadlines.

• The O’Connor Rec Center (Homewood) is available through your degree conferral date, which is December 31, 2025 for the fall 2025 semester.
• Calm,TimelyCare, and SilverCloud are also available through your degree conferral date. After your premium access to Calm ends, you can still access some of Calm’s content for free or pay for premium content (which is what the Hopkins access provides). Subscription rates for Calm vary according to the plan you buy. SilverCloud and TimelyCare only provide institutional subscriptions; there is no way to access these platforms after your JHED ID expires.
• Johns Hopkins University Student Health Plan. Your insurance deadline depends on a few factors.
  • Students: If you graduate in December 2025, your coverage will end on December 31, 2025. You will be eligible to extend coverage for up to three additional months once your coverage has terminated. Please visit Care26 Student to enroll in continuation coverage once your current coverage ends. Email [email protected] with any questions.
  • Visiting students and trainees: Your coverage will end as of the date that your appointment ends. You are not eligible for continuation coverage nor COBRA.
  • Postdocs/house staff: Coverage ends at the end of the month in which your appointment ends (or in which you terminate from the university). You will receive a COBRA enrollment packet from Wex to extend coverage at your home address on file. For more information, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
• Primary Care. You can be treated, either in person or via telehealth appointment, by Primary Care providers for 15 days after your degree conferral date.
• Mental Health Services. You can be treated, either in person or via telehealth appointment, by Mental Health Services providers for 15 days after your degree conferral date.
• The Cooley Center (East Baltimore). This facility, which includes the BSPH 9th floor fitness center, clears new grads from the roster every September, so current members will have access until that date. If you become a Hopkins employee, you are eligible for an employee membership. There are also alumni memberships available.

MAKE THE MOST OF HOPKINS WHILE YOU STILL HAVE ACCESS.

Be proactive. Get a refill on any regular prescriptions. If you’re due for an annual physical, OB-GYN exam, or any other routine doctor visit, schedule it while you still have access to those providers. Finish your SilverCloud modules. Take some fitness classes to explore what you like; that info can help inform your post-Hopkins exercise routine.

TALK TO YOUR CURRENT PROVIDERS TO SET UP A TRANSITION PLAN.

Hopkins-based clinicians are happy to work with you to find new providers who can help you maintain continuity of care, especially regarding the management of chronic conditions and maintenance of prescription drugs. The options available to you will vary according to personal post-grad circumstances.

If you’ve been working with a mental health provider, talk to them about your impending graduation and what steps you can take to preserve and build upon the work that you’ve done.

NO POSTGRAD INSURANCE COVERAGE? HOPKINS CAN PROVIDE GUIDANCE.

If you will not have access to health care through an employer, educational institution, parent, guardian, or partner after your student coverage expires, Hopkins providers can offer some guidance.

Students enrolled in the Wellfleet plan are covered until December 31, 2025. If, at that time, they do not have access to benefits through an employer or a parent or guardian or legal spouse, the Primary Care staff will assist eligible students and trainees in enrolling at Healthcare.gov or in subsidized health plans like Medicaid. In some cases, non-US citizens can enroll in these programs. In other cases, international students may need to purchase insurance coverage.

Students who are losing eligibility for Student Health coverage due to graduation can elect up to three additional months of Wellfleet coverage.

Postdocs and house staff who lose eligibility for health insurance will receive a COBRA enrollment packet from Wex. Postdocs and House Staff will be eligible to extend their benefits for up to 18 months through Wex. The cost for COBRA coverage is 102% of the full cost of the plan.
