Lance E. Poston, PhD

Assistant Vice Provost Poston is the lead for administration, operations, and strategic initiatives within Student Health and Well-Being (SHWB). In this role, he manages divisional operations and advances strategic priorities that support the day-to-day work of Johns Hopkins’ well-being education and programs, mental health services, primary care clinics, disability services, and sexual assault response and prevention efforts.

Dr. Poston brings extensive experience in higher education leadership to SHWB, most recently serving as chief of staff for the University of Virginia’s School of Nursing. He began his career at the University of Kentucky where he ultimately served as assistant vice president for external relations and operations within the institution’s student success division. Dr. Poston holds a PhD in history from Ohio University and a BA from Presbyterian College.
