SOE

School of Education

Students enrolled in in-person programs at the School of Education (SOE) are eligible for services through Mental Health Services at the Homewood Counseling Center.  These services are under the umbrella of Mental Health Services, as we move to integrate under one brand within Student Health and Well-Being.  The following programs are considered SOE “in-person” programs:

  • Counseling
  • ITGL (International Teaching and Global Leadership)
  • Special Education
  • Ph.D. programs

**Students in other SOE programs can access free, confidential mental health support by calling the Mental Health Services Consultation Services. To make an appointment with them via televideo or in person in East Baltimore or Washington, DC, call 443.287.7000 or email consultation@jh.edu.  Other free resources available to JHU students include scheduled mental telehealth appointments and TalkNow 24/7 support via Timely Care. Please visit Emotional & Mental – Johns Hopkins University Student Well-Being (jhu.edu) for a full list of resources and details.**

For SOE students in the above programs, the below services and programs will be available at the Homewood Counseling Center.

*Chat with a Counselor SOE Hours*

Meet the Counseling Center liaison to the School of Education, Andrea Regenberg, LCSW-C!  Andrea is experienced in working with undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of backgrounds and enjoys working with the SOE students.  Learn more about Andrea here or you can email her at afay1@jhu.edu.

Andrea is available on-site at the SOE in Room 131 during Chat with a Counselor hours. During these visits, students can ask questions about mental health, learn strategies to manage stress/academics/life, and also learn about mental health resources and services at JHU. If you would like to talk with Andrea, click here to sign up and reserve your spot!

Clinical Services

The Homewood Counseling Center offers individual counseling, relationship counseling, group therapy and psychiatric medication management for eligible students.  Click here to learn about engaging in clinical services through the Homewood Counseling Center.  Students begin with a remote Initial Consultation (IC) appointment to receive support, discuss concerns, and develop a plan to reach their goals.

Mental Health Workshops

These workshops are skills-based sessions that focus on particular topics and/or areas of mental health.  Most are offered through Zoom (unless indicated that it is an in-person workshop), and some strongly encourage regular attendance.  Click here to learn about all the Mental Health Workshops that are offered.

Referral Assistance

Referral Assistance is available to students who want to seek services in the community or whose needs are better addressed by off-campus mental health providers.  Students can meet directly with referral case managers for further assistance.

Crisis Intervention and Support

Crisis support is available 24/7.  Students can call 410-516-8278 and press “1” to get connected to the on-call counselor.  In addition, students can connect to the JHU Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team (BHCST) by calling the access line at 410-516-WELL (9355).
