Skills include (but not limited to):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How to enter, maintain, or leave a relationship in a healthy way<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigating relationships across different cultures, experiences, and backgrounds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practicing how to effectively communicate your feelings in intimate relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing confidence around dating and navigating intimate connections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing and implementing personal boundaries in intimate relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Growing self-agency and empowerment for better relationships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can help. While multiple partners are able to work individually with staff, sessions serve one student at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supporting Survivors Quick Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Helping a Friend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Allow survivors to make decisions for themselves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow as much time as needed; let them go at their pace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Convey that you believe them and that the assault was not their fault.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand there is no \u201cperfect\u201d survivor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer to assist in contacting or accessing resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continued Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let the person who is a survivor tell you what they need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in setting up a safe space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask if they would like you to \u201ccheck in\u201d and respect their boundaries if they do not.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain self-care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Self-Care<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain boundaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize when something is out of your comfort area or reach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take time for yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be mindful of your own emotional well-being.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find someone you can talk to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resources and External Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Love is Respect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loveisrespect.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Love is Respect<\/a> strives to be a safe, inclusive space for young people to access information and get help in an environment that is designed specifically for them. Their website provides comprehensive education on healthy, unhealthy, and abusive dating relationships and behaviors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcasa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault<\/a>&nbsp;is to help prevent sexual assault, advocate for accessible, compassionate care for survivors of sexual violence, and work to hold offenders accountable. They offer a variety of programs and services including legal services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rape, Abuse &amp; Incest National Network<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rainn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network<\/a>&nbsp;is the nation\u2019s largest anti-sexual assault organization and has been ranked as one of \u201cAmerica\u2019s 100 Best Charities\u201d by Worth magazine. Among its programs, RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE. This nationwide partnership of more than 1,100 local rape treatment hotlines provides victims of sexual assault with free, confidential services around the clock. The hotline helped 137,039 sexual assault victims in 2005 and has helped more than one million since it began in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TurnAround<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.turnaroundinc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TurnAround<\/a>&nbsp;is to build&nbsp;a community free of violence&nbsp;by working with adults and children affected by intimate partner and sexual violence to address their needs and prevent further violence through advocacy and education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEED TO TALK ABOUT SEXUAL VIOLENCE OR MISCONDUCT?
